23 July - 13 August 2022
Once again we’ve had a fabulous holiday thanks to Peter, Sally and “La Goupillère”. 3 weeks of peace, quiet and more exploration in addition to friendly meet-ups with friends over drinks, etc, all the time making us feeling more welcome (if that’s possible). We can’t wait to be back HOME again next year.
Michael and Carol (Birmingham, UK)

25 May - 4 June 2022
Can’t believe it’s been 3 years since we left here, unfortunately Covid meant we were unable to come as planned in 2020. Delighted to day nothing has changed – the house is still as fabulous as ever and Peter and Saly are just like bottles of excellent wine and ger better and better! Such good friends it’s been so lovely to see you sand catch up, lovely to meet new friends and look forward to our next visit.
Des, Wendy and Michelle (Basingstoke, UK)

14 - 28 September 2019
Thank you Peter and Sally for letting us stay at La Goupillère. Welcome pack was lovely and just what we needed after a long journey. First class attention to detail, equipment, garden and household. Superb bedding top quality. Perfect base for rest, relaxation, site seeing, long walks and excellent bird watching.
July and John and Percy the labrador (Northants, UK)

30 August - 7 September 2019
Welcome Pack got the holiday off to a good start! Everything you need is here - a lovely place to stay in this lesser known part of France. Peter and Sally were an extra! Thanks for your welcome and friendliness - all added to the holiday experience. Had a great stay in excellent gîte.
James, Lynne, Louis and Tom, (Gwynedd, Wales)

24 - 31 August 2019
A fantastic base for our visit. The house has everything we needed, including sharpened knives and mugs! (Lots of gîtes don’t!) So very quiet here, ideal for just letting the world go by for a while. The “welcome pack” was great, especially as supermarkets are closed on Sunday. Thank you.
Laurie, Lorraine, Melissa and Hannah, (Ipswich, UK)

17 - 24 August 2019
An amazing relaxing place. Perfect in every way. Every thing you need is here. Beautiful and exceptional accommodation. Owners very nice and friendly and nothing too much. Made very welcome with lovely starter pack after our long journey there. Perfect.
Tracey, Mark and Shirley (Northants, UK)

2 - 17 August 2019
Once again another fabulous time and another special memory for the “bank”  - Peter and Sally, thanks again for all your kindness and generosity, we’ve had a really relaxing and enjoyable holiday. We can’t fault the property, it just keeps on giving and is a great base to explore from or just chill.
Mike and Carol, (Birmingham, UK)

20 - 30 July 2019
Thank you Peter and Sally for being such lovely hosts. We have had a very restful holiday. The accommodation is an excellent standard and you put on a lovely welcome for our family. Carys particularly liked being able to feed your ponies and see the great collection of feline beauties. The pool was lovely and warm in the sun and we enjoyed the comfy sun loungers. When can we book to come back!
Matthew and Karen, Jacob (16) and Carys (14), (Bexleyheath, UK)

6 - 20 July 2019
We would like to thank you for our lovely holiday. The house was perfect, full of everything we needed. Compliments on plenty of good quality kitchen equipment. Peace and quiet, afternoon Scrabble challenge to get the brain working! Weather has been excellent. Our evening spent with yourselves was great, good conversation, good food and wine.
Ray and Sue, (Kidderminster, UK)

21 May - 4 June 2019
Our 4th visit, this time bringing friends. Thank you Peter and Sally for your usual attention to detail and support. With love and thanks.

20 April - 4 May 2019
Great to be back after 18 months. This is our 5th visit and it's just as amazing as ever! Looking forward to our next visit in Oct 2020 - already booked!! Time has gone so quickly... don't want to go back home.
Des, Wendy and Michelle (Bracknell, UK)

22 September – 12 October 2018
It was a wonderful three weeks and not only because we’ve been so lucky with the weather. We can only echo others’ comments about the comfort here, the thoughtful provision of every necessity (and luxury!) and the willingness of Peter and Sally to help whenever needed. We’ve seen deer, red squirrels, egrets and astonishingly red admirals and commas. But the greatest pleasure has been the quiet – and the dark. It’s a long time since we’ve been somewhere where you can see the Milky Way clearly.
Stevie & David (Powys, Wales)

8 – 15 September 2018
We had a wonderful week. It was great to meet you and see what you have done with La Goupillère.
George & Anne Marie (Eindhoven, Netherlands)

 25 August - 1 September 2018
We had a lovely week, a real "home from home". The farmhouse is very well equipped and has everything you will need during your stay. We were greeted by a very impressive welcome pack, which was a real treat. Even the dogs had treats! A most enjoyable break in a lovely location and a lovely farmhouse. Thanks to Peter and Sally who have clearly put a lot of thought into their guests' needs.
Claire, Charlotte and Dino & Luke the dogs (Wiltshire, UK)

18 - 24 August 2018
Our second trip and another great holiday. This time my parents stayed and the six of us had a wonderful time. The kids loved the addition of the pool which was very welcome on the hot days. Thank you Peter and Sally for your hospitality.
The Wildens & Appletons (Hampshire, UK)

28 July - 18 August 2018
Another fabulous holiday here (4th time) wanting for nothing and relaxing as ever. Peter and Sally, thank you for letting us share your lifestyle and your property which once again exceeded our expectations – we’ll miss this once we’re back! The pool is an added bonus and very welcoming given the weather we’ve had for most of the holiday. Thanks for recommending Le Mans night light show. It was fabulous and well worth a visit. Once again we’re sad to be leaving but look forward to next year – 49 weeks and counting!
Mike, Carol & Eileen (Birmingham, UK)

21 - 28 July 2018
A wonderful week in a wonderful property. A very warm welcome from Peter and Sally. Made the perfect home from home.
Doreen, Harriet, Mac and Sarah (West Yorkshire, UK)

14 - 21 July 2018
Beautiful, spacious, well preserved property. Generous welcome pack much appreciated. Enjoyed the tranquility, almost a perfect week!
Steve, Anne, Dave and Denise (Sussex, UK)

7 - 14 July 2018
Sadly our week has come to an end so we must pack our bags and head back to Blighty. Many thanks for the loan of your gite and for being such wonderful and generous hosts. We came wanting a relaxing break and the week has flown by in such a peaceful setting that we're just about ready to take on the world again. Thanks once again for a very enjoyable Thursday evening - it was a pleasure sharing our wedding anniversary with you! You have a fabulous home in an idyllic setting with lots of wine and plenty of cats. Nirvana!.
Huw and Ruth (West Glamorgan, UK)

30 June - 7 July 2018
We have had a great week in not a "gite" but a lovely renovated, comfortable house, with all facilities and large gardens. Ideal for a quiet start and finish off a day after sightseeing or just relaxing. You are great hosts, from meeting on arrival, seeing you at the local annual fete on the Sunday in Ize and occasionally on passing through the week. We would without question stay here again when visiting this area and look forward to seeing you in the future.
Mick, Janice, Ceris and Corrine (Northants, UK)

16 - 23 June 2018
Our second stay at this wonderful gîte – really is “home from home”, even better than we remembered. Thanks to Peter and Sally for their generous hospitality we discovered many more places to visit locally and revisited some we’d enjoyed last year, e.g. Ste Suzanne. Very relaxing quiet holiday. Hope to come again – weather was excellent for the whole week, hot and sunny. Just perfect to unwind. Many, many thanks we were so comfy.
Jan, Steph and Finn the dog (West Wales, UK)

2 - 16 June 2018
The welcome pack is outstanding and the beds as comfy as anything we have experienced. A shame we missed out on the outside space and sitting, sipping and eating. We have had 100 holidays on the continent, mostly by car and covering every month except February – this fortnights weather has been the worst ever - no fault attached to anyone, just bad luck for all, especially businesses that rely on tourism. Sees was the most pleasant surprise of all our visits. Many thanks for the fine apperos and interesting tour.
David and Pearl (West Lothian, Scotland)

26 May - 2 June 2018
Thank you once again for the loan of your home. 3rd visit in 10 months. I think you have probably guessed we will be coming to your beautiful and peaceful corner of the world. We were surprised how big the Roman fort/temple and theatre are. We also visited the castle museum at Ste Suzanne. We must return, still lots to do and restaurants to try. With love and thanks,
Beverley and John (Yorkshire, UK)

7 - 14 May 2018
A superb gîte, well equipped home from home. Tasteful furnishing throughout, excellent personalised guidebook for gîte and local area. Many thanks.
Margaret, Graham and Helena (Norfolk, UK)

14 - 28 October 2017
Our 4th visit to this fab place and it's just as amazing as ever! Still discovering new places and returns to visit old haunts,. Ste Suzanne is still as beautiful as ever and discovered Saulges caves - well worth a visit or two especially the Bistrot de la Place in the village square. Their 12,50€ menu at lunchtime including wine or cider is an absolute must. The house is as comfortable as ever and once again it has been a delight to see Peter and Sally. Thank you so much for another great time. We will return in 2019 (already booked!).
Des, Wendy and Michelle (Bracknell, UK)

1 - 10 October 2017
A lovely and relaxing week in this excellent gîte. Loved the stunning countryside. We had days out most of the time – particularly enjoyed the old city of Le Mans, Ste Suzanne – there are some lovely walks along the river, and Sillé Plage. The Roman remains of Jublains are worth a look, we had great lunch at the restaurant by the church, all very typical French. All in all, a great week.
Louise and Steve & Arther the dog (London, UK)

23 - 30 September 2017
Thank you for the lovely welcome, it makes a great start to the week at your gîte. Facilities and welcome pack are superb. Would thoroughly recommend but if you are reading this you know how good it is already. Wonderful owners, thank you Peter and Sally.
Janette and Mark, (Linconshire, UK)

24 August - 2 September 2017
Thank you very much once again Peter and Sally. I think the fact it is our second visit in two months must mean we like it very much. We got to try some new restaurants recommended by you, we loved the “passion” menu at the Bretagne in Sillé. It was worth the visit to Mont St Michel and St Leonard de Bois. You are very good hosts and we look forward to our 3rd visit.
Beverley and John (Yorkshire, UK)

19 - 23 August 2017
Thank you for a lovely stay. The farmhouse has been very comfortable and is very well equipped. The welcome pack was fantastic and the girls loved the board games and outside equipment. This has been a great base for seeing nearby family and we had a great day at Sille Plage. We would love to come and stay again but for longer this time!
Kellie, Matt, Hannah (10) & Katie (5) (Hampshire, UK)

27 July - 19 August 2017
Once again Peter and Sally have done us proud - this place gets better and better. The hospitality and attention is second to none and make the holiday an absolute dream. Everybody that we have met have been so kind and friendly, it's become a second home to us and we are always sad to leave but look forward to coming back. Thank you so much and we are counting the weeks until we're back (keep the Muscadet chilled!)
Mike, Carol & Irene (Birmingham, UK)

15 - 29 July 2017
Many thanks for this beautiful, clean, romantic and nicely furnished accommodation. We have really enjoyed it! Also thank you very much for the generous and interesting welcome pack, as well as the informative brochure. The time here just flew by and I wish we could have stayed longer,

Thank you so much for the loan of your home, it is very well equipped and the bed so comfortable. You are excellent hosts with great attention to detail. We have really relaxed and feel set to face the world again.

Fiona and Ian Mc William & family (Elgin, Scotland)

20 - 27 May 2017
Had a lovely week in this excellent gîte - one week was not enough so we'll be back! Beautifully appointed, clean and such comfortable beds. Weather was kind to us, lovely sunny and warm (too hot at times - were able to eat outside, barbecue etc. Dog enjoyed the large grounds and country walks. Ste Suzanne and Le Mans old town are a must. Visited Sille plage and forest many times, often just on the way back to give the dog a run or a swim. It would be great for children too. Beautiful place to holiday, so quiet and Peter and Sally are so welcoming. The "welcome pack" on arrival was second to none - brilliant. We are sorry to leave but will return.
Stephanie, Jan & Finn the dog (SW Wales). Peter (Worcestershire, UK)

13 - 20 May 2017
We have had a lovely week here, out and about every day and comfortable in the house in the evenings. All our needs have been met, adults, child and dog have had a super family holiday. Many thanks to our hosts.
Mike, Janette, Michelle, Ava & Jess the dog (Cumbria, UK)

15 - 29 October 2016
Absolutely fabulous again! Our 3rd visit and our 4th is already booked for next year. Peter and Sally have excelled themselves again. Such lovely caring people, nothing is too much trouble. Always giving us new places to visit and eat! Yum. Try Chevy's American Diner in Villaines - burgers are a must. Lovely meal at Beau Rivage yet again. Also Hotel de Bretagne is great for lunch menu - advise you to book for lunch as it gets very busy. Look forward to seeing you next year.
Dennis, Wendy & Michelle (Berkshire, UK)

18 September - 1 October 2016
We have had a wonderful holiday in the best equipped holiday house we have ever stayed in. The "welcome pack" was so generous and much appreciated after our journey to get here. Peter and Sally were great hosts with lots of advice of things to do and places to see. We would most certainly try to come back here sometime. Thanks again to out hosts.
Judy, Jimmy, Tim & Eva (Cork, Ireland)

3rd - 11th September 2016
We have had a wonderful stay. This house is so delightful and comfortable. Everything you might need when you are away from home is here... Peter & Sally have been fantastic hosts and are such nice and interesting people. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They are so efficient and helpful and have organised this house to a standard of perfection. We will be back in the near future to enjoy it again and to discover new places. A week was too short. This region is beautiful and so unspoilt. Many more parts and villages to see yet... Thank you so much for your fantastic hospitality. A très bientôt.
Bill & Christine (Sheffield, UK)

28 August - 3rd September 2016
A fantastic 2 weeks in such a lovely house and area. Thank you to Peter and Sally for their helpfulness and hospitality. The house had everything we could have thought of and so much information about what to explore locally. We loved Sillé Plage, the local lake/beach - we went 4 times! Local towns Laval, Alençon (for the market), and Sainte-Suzanne were interesting to look around. Mayenne had a lovely castle and town area. The swimming pool in Bais was another good find for the children, as were various little parks in Izé, Courcité and Bais. The Roman village was worth a trip to Jublains - we really packed it in! Not to mention just playing here and watching the sheep in the next field. A beautiful place to holiday! Many thanks again and we would certainly love to return to La Goupillère in the future.
Chris, Megan, Nigel, Lynda, Abigail (5), Holly (3) and Luke (1) (Cambridge, UK)

30 July - 20 August 2016
Once again we've had an absolutely fabulous holiday. Peter and Sally we can't thank you enough for such a great place for our break - your attention to detail and care is incredible. We thought last year was great but this year has been even better! So many places to go and visit - thanks for the advice on the "Le Mans tour train" - a great way to see the Plantagenet town with great commentary, well worth a visit. The gîte was as awesome as before and the hospitality second to none. It's been so relaxing and mom really enjoyed her time here. We can't wait to return next year. Thanks again.
Mike, Carol & Mom (Birmingham, UK)

23 - 30 July 2016
We have had a wonderful week here. The house is fantastic, very comfortable and a real home from home. The boys have loved the outside space and have spent ages riding around on their bikes. We've loved the tranquillity. Sillé Plage is definitely worth a visit for a swim or a walk in the woods. The kids loved the pool at Evron with slides and a rope swing. All in all we have had a lovely time. Many thanks to Peter and Sally for making us feel so welcome and for all their hints and tips. Hopefully we'll be back again before too long!
Matt, Sarah, James (11) & Thomas (9) (Dorset, UK)

2 - 19 July 2016
We've had a wonderful time staying in the gîte. The weather has been great and we've visited some beautiful towns and lakes. I can highly recommend visiting Le Mans, it has some lovely shops and restaurants. The lake near Sille is wonderful for swimming and we enjoyed a brilliant round of crazy golf, even if I didn't win. Thank you for a wonderful stay it's been really enjoyable and your help and guidance was very appreciated.
Ellie

We agree with Ellie. Enjoyed meals at Beau Rivage and at 7 Plats in Le Mans. We did appreciate the attention to detail in the gîte and the concern Peter and Sally had to ensure we had a carefree holiday! The area is beautiful - saw a couple of hares in the garden - and probably the best thing about the week was the peace and quiet - no traffic noise! Thank you for your kindness Peter and Sally.
Paul, Helen & Margaret (East Sussex, UK)

11 - 18 June 2016
Many many thanks to Peter and Sally for their fabulous hospitality and generosity, we have had a wonderful week! We have taken advantage of your restaurant recommendations - Chevy's Diner in Villaines-la-Juhel, La Baraque à Bœuf in Le Mans, La Beau Rivage outside Mayenne as well as visiting the sights. We also included a visit to Saumur and stocked up on some lovely fizz! Thank you so much again, we will be back!

Our second visit, just as fabulous as our last stay. Sillé Plage is a great place to stop at for walks around the lake and lunch afterwards. Beau Rivage has a lovely menu and so worth a visit, a week is just not long enough and we will return to stay in this fantastic house yet again. A huge thank you to Peter and Sally for everything.
Wendy, Dennis & Michelle (Berkshire, UK)

19 - 26 September 2015
This has to be the best accommodation we have stayed in in 20 years of coming to France.
Peter and Sally, thank you for your thoughtfulness, you have provided everything anyone could have asked for. Thank you for your hospitality and welcome. The house is home from home and we have had a restful, peaceful holiday in lovely surroundings. Thank you.
Steve, Sandra, George and Lynn & Jack (Preston, UK)

22 August - 1 September 2015
Another fantastic week here. If we were impressed last time we stayed, it has been even better this time around. The kids have loved all the sports and games gear and we have enjoyed reacquainting ourselves with the peace and quiet of this lovely place. Thanks to Peter and Sally for their usual warm welcome and general friendliness and helpfulness throughout the week. Visits to Le Mans, Mayenne and St Leonard des Bois all highly recommended. Still lots of things we didn't find time to do (mainly due to important relaxation) which may well form the basis of an excuse for a future return visit. Thanks loads.
Lynn, Rod, Cal (12) & Al (14) (Stockport, UK)

1 - 22 August 2015
I'm writing this whilst sitting outside watching the sun go down on what has been yest another fabulous day. Peter and Sally, we can't thank you enough for the pleasure that we have had and the friendliness that we have received since we arrived here. The gite is absolutely stunning and we couldn't have wished for a better "home" for our holiday place - peace, quiet and tranquility in fabulous surroundings whilst having places to explore "just around the corner". We would certainly recommend this to our friends (but not until we have booked our dates first!).
Michael and Carol & mum (Birmingham, UK)

25 July - 1 August 2015
Thank you to Peter and Sally for a wonderful week. The farmhouse is beautiful, clean and spacious, with everything provided (and more!). The outside space is perfect for our lively boys, especially enjoying the paddling pool and other games. The enclosed garden was perfect for them to play safely whilst we prepared food and the wider garden and hard-standing area great for their bikes. We were especially impressed by the extensive "welcome hamper" and the house was well stocked with staple items ... more ... This will be a holiday treasured forever, made all the more special by Peter and Sally's kindness and hospitality. We hope to return one day.
Gemma, Richard, Samuel (5⅓) & Benjamin (2¾) (Cheshire, UK)

11 - 18 July 2015

We had a wonderful week in the best gîte we have ever stayed in - so spotless, light and spacious. The gîte has every comfort you could wish for. Peter and Sally are fantastic, helpful hosts with lots of information about places to visit and things to do. Sadly we only had a week so need to return to enjoy more of this beautiful part of France. Thank you again Peter and Sally for letting us share this lovely gîte and for the very generous welcome pack - outstanding all round. You are very lucky to live in this corner of paradise!
Di, Owen and Kiki the dog (Barrow in Furness, UK)

20 June - 4 July 2015
I can only reiterate our entry from June 2013 - the fact that we are back says it all! This time we had our dog with us and he had a lovely time too. This is a lovely area and Peter and Sally are thoughtful hosts.

Julie and Shane (Western Australia)

16 - 30 May 2015
Our first visit to the Mayenne area and we have had a great holiday. The house was fantastic with an excellent "welcome pack" laid on by Peter and Sally. We were lucky with the weather and made full use of the garden, patio and BBQ. The paddling pool was  a particular highlight for Orla! WE would thoroughly recommend Sillé Plage and Gué de Selle for their lakes, walks and picnic areas, both within a 20 minute drive. Hopefully we would be welcome to come again and stay at La Goupillère!
Euan, Claire, Orla and Bobby & Monty the dogs (East Grinstead, UK)

2 - 16 May 2015
Thank you Peter and Sally for a lovely 2 weeks in your wonderfully equipped gîte! The "welcome pack" was great - the best by far we have ever had. Have enjoyed hill and river walks, geocaching of course and exploring the towns and villages. Particularly impressed with Le Mans, Sainte Suzanne, Jublains and Saint Ceneri. Lovely quiet rural area - sad the weather wasn't really warm enough to sit out but great for walking!
John and Hazel (Dartmouth, UK)

24 May – 21 June 2014
The cottage and the surrounding area are very tranquil the hosts Peter and Sally have been friendly and so helpful making our four week stay here more enjoyable than we could have imagined. In our time here we have tripped all over the place and had some tranquil days doing nothing. So many highlights I cannot mention them all. We did the Le Mans 24 hour race and had an excellent few days there during our stay.

Thank you for a lovely holiday. Sally and Peter could not have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The house and ambience was superb. We are extremely grateful for their assistance in making a restaurant reservation in Chartres to celebrate a family occasion. See you again.

21 December 2013 - 3 January 2014
We stayed for Christmas and New Year and had a lovely time, so peaceful and we couldn't have asked for a better equipped house, the bedding and towels are pure luxury and so many extra touches makes it a home from home. We had a few things go wrong when we were here because of the extreme weather but we can honestly say Sally and Peter dealt with it promptly and efficiently and we were not inconvenienced at all. A thoroughly beautiful house and truly lovely people in Sally and Peter. Perfect hosts and we would love to come back.

Footnote : This was during the worst storms for 40 years, also experienced in the UK. Power cuts, hurricane force winds and torrential rain and to cap it all the boiler broke down on Boxing Day, apparently because of the power cuts. We managed! And thank you to our lovely guests for their tolerance and understanding. P&S

What a fantastic holiday!!! The gite is the best equipped place we've ever stayed and it is like a home away from home. We have loved the peace and quiet of the countryside as we are city dwellers. The stars at night are a sight to behold on a clear night. We have visited many lovely places like Ste Suzanne, Le Mans, Mayenne, Laval and many in between. The lake at Sillé-le-Guillaume has a nice walk around it and there are bikes to hire and horses to ride etc. Well done Peter and Sally for all the thoughtful touches that you've added to our stay. We are thankful to you for the wonderful holiday memories we are leaving with.

I have loved this holiday - it has been brilliant. I have loved visiting all of the little villages and big cities alike! The relaxing and peaceful atmosphere has been beautiful. The house is wonderful and homelike and thank you Peter and Sally for making us feel so welcome. So many happy memories. Sarah (15)

This has been one of the best holidays ever. The best thing is the wildlife. There are buzzards, kestrels, grass snakes, swallows, dragonflies, bats, damselflies, owls and much more. It has been heaven here as I love my wildlife. The house is wonderful. Nothing needs to be improved! Peter and Sally were always very helpful (told us where places were). I would love to come back. There was not many tourist shops but that did not disappoint me. The lake (beach) at Sillé-le-Guillaume was worth it and I would advise any child to go on the horse rides. I am very sad to leave and will never forget this holiday. p.s. we will really miss Max and Sax our good bears. Ruth (12)

By far the best gite we have ever stayed in and the hospitality offered by Peter and Sally was second to none. We would definitely recommend it to friends. Thank you for a very comfortable week.

What a week! We have stayed in the lap of luxury here in La Goupillère and enjoyed every single minute. Peter and Sally you have thought of everything. We have stayed in many places over the last few years but nothing has compared to La Goupillère. The house itself, the grounds, the games, the well stocked fridge, etc.... superb! Oh why, oh why did we only book one week - there's always next year....!!.

Thank you for sharing your lovely gite with us - the most comfortable and well equipped holiday home imaginable. Thoughtful touches like spare toothbrushes, bicycle locks and bedside clocks make all the difference, along with the great quality linen and all of the electrical life-enhancers! We were lucky to be here for the annual Fete de Saint Jean and to sample village life, the hospitality we have been extended has been another lovely part of our holiday and we are very sad to leave! Thank you Peter and Sally for such a lovely time.

Thank you so much, Peter and Sally, for your hospitality and for providing us with a beautiful home while we are between houses in the UK. You have thoughtfully provided what we needed to work as well as play during our two month stay. It's fantastic that a holiday gite can provide such a comfortable, elegant and spacious home from home over a period as long as two months. We have experienced true peace here and the surrounding countryside is breath-taking. The landscapes and architecture make this a photographer's paradise. The signed circular walks nearby are a must – they make you feel good and you can experience just how pristine this place is. Truly, La Goupillère is a superb place to be! Thanks for making it all possible!"

A huge thank you to Peter and Sally for a great week. So much to see and do but just ran out of time. Ste Suzanne and Le Mans are well worth a visit, the Bistrot d'Izé is a must for lunch. We would love to return and hope to do so soon. Once again, many thanks.

A lovely week of (mainly) Autumn sunshine and xxx making everywhere look beautiful. Peter and Sally are generous and helpful hosts and it has been a relaxing week. Sainte Suzanne is beautiful and the area is generally very unspoilt. We hope to return to explore further, eat more crepes and drink more red wine. Vive la France!

We have really enjoyed our week at La Goupillère. What a lovely place! Sainte Suzanne is well worth a visit as is Mayenne. We also had a superb evening in the old town of Le Mans and we can thoroughly recommend the Bistrot Sur la Place. The plage at Sillé-le-Guillaume is a good place to go with children, beach, swimming and lots of other activities to keep them very happy. Most of all though a big thank you to Peter and Sally for being such wonderful hosts and letting us stay in their house. We are already planning our return visit.

8 - 26 July 2012
We decided to dip our toe into renting a gite in France. Having traditionally spent our holidays further afield, with 3 small children and parents were needed to do very little except re-charge our batteries, it was going to be a challenge to find one size fits all. We scoured the internet and found La Goupillère - it looked divine. We thought it would be lovely but were not expecting just how gorgeous the property was in 'real life'. We stayed for 18 days and loved every second. The quality of the house, the friendliness of the natives - the long story is worth hearing over several bottles of wine! The children were in heaven running around. Bicycles were available which was a godsend for the older two who went hurtling off at every opportunity. The beach at Sillé-le-Guillaume was great to keep them happy and a couple of days on train up to Disneyland kept them and Dad happy with the rides - Mum didn't think she'd ever walk again after a couple of them! Peter and Sally are just fantastic people and hosts and we still miss the evenings chatting about everything and anything whilst the kids ran around 'helping' bbq! Gorgeous traditional villages and scenery designed to soothe away the stress and strains on your doorstop; Sainte Suzanne to enthrall little and large alike with stories and tales of Knights and Ladies. This really did fit all sizes and with noses back to those ever harder grindstones, we cannot wait to go back and catch up on new stories.
